Gettysburg, PA

The Civil War's Gettysburg Battlefield must be experienced firsthand to truly be appreciated. Nearly 150,000 soldiers died there in just 3 days, about half of those from each side of the conflict. Visit the very informative museum/interpretive center first, pick up a self guide to the driving tour or audio guide, and take your time. Stop, see and emotionally feel the many vantage points and monuments. The Gettysburg National Cemetery, so famously dedicated by Abraham Lincoln's incredible, Gettysburg Address is beautiful and serene. You can almost hear, see and feel the spirits of those who made this ground so precious. The entire experience may forever change you.

Massachusetts' Historic Seaside

Cape Ann Campsite, with it's ocean view, wild turkeys and knowledgeable staff is the perfect base for enjoying the local sights and delicacies. We enjoyed exploring the shops of Rockport, Gloucester's Fisherman's Memorial and Cape Ann beach.

Boston, MA

Most have at least seen pictures of Boston's many historic sites which pay a tribute to those who won our freedom and created this great country. Few, however, have seen: Steve, Barb, Lynette and George in the Old North Church Courtyard; The interior of the Old North Church; The resident Old North Church cat snuggling up to George; or George, Barb, Lynette and Steve in the country's oldest surviving tavern, the "Bell in Hand".
On a much more solemn note, the final picture on this page is Boston's Holocaust Memorial. The glass walls contain quotes from holocaust victims and survivors which are read while standing within each tower as warm air, simulating the gas chambers, rises from grates in the sidewalk.

Moon over Bar Harbor Campground

Chef George performing kitchen magic at our campsite in Bar Harbor (Maine) campground.
Sweeties Barb and George taking a break after enjoying the gourmet meal 'by George'.
Two views from campsites. The full moon provides some explanation for the character of the preceding pics. We were in Bar Harbor during the first week of October and were told by locals that the "peak" color was still two weeks away. We did, however, get to experience the movement caused by a 3.9 earthquake, the epicenter of which was just a couple of miles from us, under Acadia National Park. The quake was strong enough to cause rockslides which closed some popular hiking trails in the park. The impact to us as we sat in our motorhome was minimal, sounding like thunder and feeling much less dramatic than rolling down I-10 toward Texas.

Experiencing Maine

Lighthouses, quaint restaurants, monarch butterflies, seaside villages...Maine is a feast for the palate and the eyes.

West Quaoddy Head Lighthouse, the Easternmost point in the continental US.

Uncle Kippy's Seafood in West Lubec, ME is home to the most fantastic fresh lobster stew ever created (in our opinion).
